Pop stars are so important in Sweden they get to be on stamps

Postnord, the postal company run by the Danish and Swedish governments, is releasing limited edition stamps with major pop personalities like Robyn and Max Martin on January 15.

The stamps were drawn by Jenny Mörtsell based on photographs taken by Alex Wessley, Andreas Larsson, Kristoffer Berg, Johannes Helje and Mikael Dahl. Here are a few of the designs:

Americans love pop stars too, and with the United States Postal Service rapidly losing money, now could be the perfect time to follow Sweden's lead and put Beyoncé or Taylor Swift or Kanye on our mail. Ray Charles, Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, and Jimi Hendrix have already gotten stamps made of them, as have jazz artists from John Coltrane to Miles Davis. Why not some living musicians?

Thanks to Pitchfork for the pointer.
