In 1998, anchor Keith Olbermann briefly left MSNBC before returning to the network for the now-defunct Countdown. Olbermann blamed the show's frequent coverage of the Monica Lewinsky coverage for his leave. He said it gave him "dry heaves" and would "make me ashamed, make me depressed, make me cry," according to USA Today.
Now, newly released documents from the Clinton White House show Olbermann actually apologized to the president for his show's Lewinsky coverage:
