John Patty is a Professor of Political Science & Quantitative Theory and Methods at Emory University and Co-editor of the Journal of Theoretical Politics. His research focuses on mathematical models of political institutions, Congress, and the federal bureaucracy. He has published in numerous academic journals, and coauthored two books, Learning While Governing (with Sean Gailmard, University of Chicago Press, 2013) and Social Choice and Legitimacy: The Possibilities of Impossibility (with Elizabeth Maggie Penn, Cambridge University Press, 2014) .
