Hannah Ritchie is deputy editor and lead researcher at Our World in Data, an organization that aims to make data and research on the world’s largest problems accessible and understandable. She is also a researcher at the University of Oxford. Her work focuses on environmental change, ranging from energy and climate to agriculture, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. In particular, she studies the intersection of environmental issues and human development to help build a sustainable future.

She earned a BSc in environmental geoscience, MSc in carbon management, and PhD in environmental sciences from the University of Edinburgh. Her work is often featured on the BBC and in other media outlets including Wired, New Scientist, and the Washington Post.
