Wyoming results for every midterm race
There aren’t any competitive congressional races in Wyoming, but there is an open governor’s seat given the term limits on the current very popular Republican Gov. Matt Mead.
Wyoming is heavily conservative and went for Trump by 46 percentage points, so Republicans are seen as having the advantage. Republican state treasurer Mark Gordon is expected to easily defeat Mary Throne, the Democratic leader in the state House, for the governor’s seat.
Sen. John Barrasso, a top Senate Republican, is also up for reelection, though he isn’t expected to face a particularly strong challenge from Democrat Gary Trauner.
Wyoming is one of many states in the country that have established a Republican trifecta — or GOP dominance over the state House, Senate, and governor’s mansion. The strength of Gordon’s candidacy suggests Republicans are on track to keep that trifecta.
President Donald Trump remains popular here, with Morning Consult putting his approval rating above 60 percent.
