Wisconsin results for every midterm race
Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin is fending off a challenge from Republican Leah Vukmir, and polls indicate that she shouldn’t have any trouble doing so. Baldwin is perhaps among the safest of the battleground-state Democrats who are fighting to maintain their seats as the party seeks to expand its control in the Senate.
Meanwhile, Democrats are trying — yet again — to topple Republican Gov. Scott Walker as he vies for reelection. State public schools chief Tony Evers could very well be within striking distance, based on polling averages.
There’s also a collection of interesting House seats including a scuffle over House Speaker Paul Ryan’s seat in the state’s First Congressional District, where Democrats put up Randy “Iron Stache” Bryce against “Ryan 2.0” Bryan Steil. In the state’s Seventh District, Democrats are going after incumbent Republican Rep. Sean Duffy for his vote in favor of the controversial Obamacare repeal last year, as part of their efforts to retake the House. He faces Democrat Margaret Engebretson.
Democrats are angling to flip two state Senate seats as they try to gain a stronger foothold in the state Legislature, which has been dominated by Republicans. Voters will also weigh a ballot initiative determining whether the position of state treasurer will be eliminated.
Trump’s approval rating in Wisconsin has been sinking, with his disapproval in the mid-50s, according to Morning Consult.
