Washington results for every midterm race

There’s a trio of pick-up opportunities in Washington that Democrats are eyeing as they seek to retake the US House.

They include a scuffle in the Third Congressional District over incumbent Republican Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s seat, a Democratic push in the Fifth District aimed at unseating Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and an all-out brawl over an opening in the Eighth District following Republican Rep. Dave Reichert’s retirement.

McMorris Rodgers’s race is especially noteworthy given her leadership in the House Republican Conference and the dead-heat competition she experienced earlier this year in the state’s top-two primary.

Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell is vying for reelection as well, though she’s expected to coast to a win against Republican Susan Hutchison. Two ballot measures focus on strengthening gun control measures and increasing police officer training regarding how they can use deadly force.

Washington state, a rare Democratic trifecta, is expected to remain safely in blue hands, according to Daily Kos.

President Donald Trump is also quite unpopular here, with Morning Consult finding his disapproval rating topping 60 percent.
