Arkansas may be small and conservative, but it has one race that could be important in Democrats’ effort to take Congress. The state has four House districts, all of which are currently represented by Republicans. But the Second District is the least lopsided toward conservatives, and Rep. French Hill (R) is facing a spirited contest from state Rep. Clarke Tucker (D).
Meanwhile, Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson is running for a second term against Democrat Jared Henderson, and is viewed as the heavy favorite. The full state House and half the state Senate are on the ballot too; Republicans currently have enormous majorities in both. And there are ballot initiatives up on voter ID and increasing the minimum wage.
President Trump remains popular in Arkansas, with Morning Consult consistently showing more people approve of his job performance than disapprove in the state.
