If you’re a fan of shows like Russian Doll, Stranger Things, or Sex Education — you should thank Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix. Holland is the behind-the-scenes dealmaker responsible for expanding Netflix’s fiefdom of binge-worthy entertainment.
Of course, none of these programs would be possible without creative talent such as Emmy-nominated Natasha Lyonne, co-creator, writer, director and star of the critically lauded, fan-favorite series Russian Doll.
Recode’s co-founder and editor at large Kara Swisher will speak with both Holland and Lyonne at this year’s Code Conference on Tuesday, June 11.
We’re excited to ask Holland and Lyonne about what it’s like to create a hit show like Russian Doll, what they think of tech companies, and the industry’s growing influence on media.
For more context about how Netflix has built its streaming empire, read our coverage of how it’s spending more than almost all its competitors on content, the fight for the streaming bundle, and Netflix’s audience metrics.
How to watch the full interview: Each and every onstage interview at Code will be available to watch in full on Recode’s YouTube channel in the coming days.
You can also get live updates and breaking news from the stage. Follow Recode on Twitter so you don’t miss a beat. We’ll be live-tweeting our onstage interview with Holland and Lyonne using #CodeCon. We’ll also feature some exclusive behind-the-scenes highlights from the conference on Instagram.
