Patty McCord, Ben Thompson and Naveen Jain are coming to Code Conference

Meet some of the faculty at our first-ever Code University

Peter Kafka covers media and technology, and their intersection, at Vox. Many of his stories can be found in his Kafka on Media newsletter, and he also hosts the Recode Media podcast.

Code Conference is known for its iconic Red Chair interviews with leaders of the world’s most important companies. Kara Swisher and I have been telling you about some of the great names we have coming to this year’s event; stay tuned for more.

We’re also doing something new at Code this year: Code University, where the sharpest minds in leadership, technology, science and more will present 20-minute lectures on topics like work culture and disruptive innovation. Code U is an opportunity to take a deep dive into the front-line research and innovations that will drive the next generation of businesses.

We’re thrilled to announce our first three Code U lecturers:

Stratechery founder Ben Thompson is one of tech’s go-to analysts for explaining, in real time, the complex issues facing tech’s big players. Ben was a giant hit at Code Media in 2017; we’re delighted to have him back for an encore.

Netflix’s former chief talent officer, Patty McCord, penned that company’s famous HR presentation, which went viral. Her new book, Powerful: Building a Culture of Freedom and Responsibility, looks at driving performance through workplace culture.

Philanthropist and entrepreneur Naveen Jain founded Moon Express, the first private company to get permission to land on the moon. And that’s just the start — he’ll also talk about investing in cutting-edge tech to harvest planetary resources and identify chronic diseases early on.

These experts will join the CEOs of Uber, Airbnb, AT&T, 21st Century Fox and Stitch Fix at Terranea this May. Apply here and we will see you there.
