When we last saw Elizabeth Moss — er, Offred — in Hulu’s hit series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” she was being led away by Guardians after her protest of the treatment of another handmaid.
Here’s a refresher of where we stand:
Now that we’re all sufficiently spooked again, let’s talk about costumes. Ane Crabtree, the costume designer for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” came to Recode’s Code Media conference Tuesday to give the live debut of the new costumes for Season Two.

This season, the costumes for the handmaids are a bit darker (literally), with a black funeral outfit and a red mask that hides the entire face.
Ane Crabtree is the costume designer behind the hit show and she explains about the process of making the instantly recognizable looks.
“The idea was to find the perfect color that looked like life blood, or that could fit on any skin tone,” said Crabtree.
