Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat defended Google’s pay practices and talked about Alphabet’s growth strategies on the Code Conference stage in Rancho Palos Verdes this week.
“We are very committed to gender pay equity,” she said, responding to a question about the Labor Department’s accusations that Alphabet subsidiary Google is paying women less than it pays men.
She also said Alphabet’s acquisition strategy has focused on filling holes in its cloud efforts and that the Google Home and Nest suite of home devices are staying separate.
