Jill Soloway, the filmmaker behind the Emmy-winning Amazon original series “Transparent,” talked with Kara Swisher at the 2017 Code Conference, where they detailed how Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos thinks telling stories can have a political impact.

Soloway, who cares deeply about racial justice as well as the movement for women and queer people, recounted how Bezos told them that telling stories about characters going through challenging social issues can have faster impact than working for policy change.
