Two more Twitter VPs are leaving the company: Celia Poon, a four-year veteran and Twitter’s VP of finance, and Jeremy Rishel, an engineering VP running the tech side of Twitter’s live video efforts.
The departures were announced internally this week, though Poon is staying on through August. A company spokesperson confirmed their departures to Recode.
A few thoughts:
- Poon has been at Twitter for more than four years, and reported directly to CFO-turned-COO Anthony Noto. She started helping with some of the company’s CFO duties when Noto first announced he was taking over the COO role, and some sources have suggested her name as a possible CFO replacement. But she has been transitioning out for months, according to a source, and another Twitter VP in charge of corporate finance, David Aufderhaar, will take over for Poon once she departs.
- Rishel also joined Twitter in 2013 when the company acquired social analytics company Bluefin Labs. He’s had a number of engineering roles inside Twitter, but was most recently running engineering for its live video product, reporting to Periscope CEO Kayvon Beykpour. His last day is Friday.
The departures are notable considering Twitter still doesn’t have a CFO replacement for Noto, who is managing two jobs, and considering Twitter’s live video push is arguably the company’s most important product initiative.
It hasn’t all been departures at Twitter though. The company has filled a few key roles in the past few months, including Todd Swidler, a former Bloomberg exec who came over to run live video partnerships in May.
Twitter also hired an ad tech executive, Bruce Falck, to run the company’s advertising products. That hire was also announced in May.
