David Drummond is watching over Alphabet’s deals

Drummond is No. 90 on the Recode 100.

Running corporate development for Alphabet, Drummond also oversees the Google parent company’s investment arms, GV (formerly Google Ventures) and CapitalG (formerly Google Capital), which just led a $1 billion funding round in Lyft.

Drummond also helps lead Google and Alphabet’s $32 million+ racial justice portfolio. In October, the company provided a $1 million grant to The Hidden Genius Project, an Oakland-based organization that helps young black males get into tech.

Today, he was in Chicago to present a $1.5 million grant to Chance the Rapper’s nonprofit, SocialWorks, and Chicago Public Schools, aimed at bringing computer science education to more kids.
