Golden Globes 2017: Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield’s kiss made the Golden Globes great again

Neither actor won an award. But their Spideypool kiss was great.

If you blinked, you missed it.

During Ryan Gosling’s walk to the stage to accept the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical, fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds was locking lips with Andrew Garfield. It was hard to see in real time, but here’s a quick video of it (check the left-hand corner of the screen):

And for good measure, here’s a GIF of the moment:

If NBC had done the camera shot where it displays little squares of all the nominees during the winning moment (along with all the nominees’ reactions) we would’ve gotten a better shot of the man kiss. The smooch was a fun little bit in a night that was almost lulled to sleep by host Jimmy Fallon, and it was a nod to the irreverent comic book pairing of pansexual Deadpool and Spider-Man (Garfield played Spider-Man in two films) known as “SpideyPool.”

If the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is looking for a duo (à la Tina Fey and Amy Poehler) to host next year’s Golden Globes, they might want to give those two a call.
