Media attachments and @handles in replies will no longer count against the 140-character limit.

.Back in May, Twitter said it would be making some changes that would let users pack more content into their tweets, and now we know when those changes will arrive. As of Sept. 19, media attachments (images, GIFs, videos, polls, etc.) and @handles in replies will no longer count against the traditional 140-character limit.
