For many leaders of Silicon Valley, the 2016 election cycle is an exercise in how many ways they can say that they don't like Donald Trump.
While a lot of them do really like Hillary Clinton and other Democratic establishment figures, Trump is really their bête noire. Here’s the latest example of how much the captains of tech loathe the Republican candidate: A letter on Medium signed by a bunch of tech executives outlining their contempt for the guy.
The relatively short letter was posted to Medium by former Twitter exec Katie Jacobs Stanton, who also used to work in Hillary Clinton’s State Department, and it levels criticisms that have been well aired in public.
Its backers include Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Slack founder and CEO Stewart Butterfield, investor Vinod Khosla and a bunch of other mostly medium-level Silicon Valley executives.
Notably, the list doesn’t include CEOs or other top executives from the biggest tech companies, like Facebook, Google or Microsoft, which some people caught onto.
It's interesting that not a single Google employee signed that letter.

One signee told Recode in a phone interview that there were people who didn't sign the Silicon Valley Clinton endorsement letter who still felt compelled to speak up.
“There was a community of non-celebrity tech leaders who wanted to use their collective voice, people who are not used to speaking about politics, and they wanted to speak out about how a Trump presidency would be poison for innovation,” the signee said. “It’s an attempt to be less personal and less political, and more substantive.”
And why don’t the signees like Donald Trump?
“He campaigns on anger, bigotry, fear of new ideas and new people, and a fundamental belief that America is weak and in decline,” the letter says. “We have listened to Donald Trump over the past year and we have concluded: Trump would be a disaster for innovation.”
