Jason Del Rey has been a business journalist for 15 years and has covered Amazon, Walmart, and the e-commerce industry for the last decade. He was a senior correspondent at Vox.

When Recode unveiled its first Code Commerce Series event in May, the goal was to bring together the leaders of companies that are excelling in the e-commerce world today while still placing big bets on what the industry will look like tomorrow.

Perhaps no online payments company is going after both missions more than Stripe, the $5 billion startup founded by 20-something brothers John and Patrick Collison.

That’s why I’m pumped to announce John Collison as the first of three speakers you’ll get to hear from at the next Code Commerce Series event.

It will take place on the evening of October 25 in Las Vegas in conjunction with the Money20/20 conference. Our event in May sold out, so you should apply for an invite right now.

Today, Stripe has become synonymous with how to accept online payments if you are building a startup or app. In the future, Stripe also wants to help retailers big and small sell their wares all over the web, from social networks to content apps. And with an effort called Atlas, Stripe is trying to make it easier for entrepreneurs across the globe to create a presence in the U.S.

The vision is big, but the challenges are real. We’ll discuss all of this with John Collison on October 25. And we’ll have two more great speakers to announce before then.

The Code Commerce Series, which I co-host with Kara Swisher, features Recode’s brand of no-BS interviews along with solid networking time over good food and drinks. You should be there. Apply for an invite today.
