Microsoft is sunsetting Sunrise, the mobile calendar app it bought last year

It'll disappear from app stores soon and stop working altogether at the end of August.

Sunrise

Microsoft confirmed Wednesday that it is ending support of Sunrise, shifting its engineering team to work on the mobile calendar within the iOS and Android versions of Outlook.

"Unfortunately, as all good stories go, there’s a sad bit to it: we’re not able to support and update Sunrise anymore," Sunrise said on its blog. "No new features. No bug fixes. For us, that’s the definition of a lousy app and it’s not a user experience we want to leave you with. For this reason, we’ll be removing Sunrise from the app stores in the next few days."

The app, which Microsoft bought last year, will cease working altogether on August 31, Sunrise said.
