If you need to promote your own show, getting the cast of a different, hugely popular series to do the honors isn't a bad way to go about it.
Netflix has reminded fans that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is premiering its second season on April 15 with a clever video, starring none other than the cast of Orange Is the New Black. In it, cast members like Laverne Cox, Kate Mulgrew, Laura Prepon, and more enthusiastically pay homage to "Peeno Noir," Titus Andromedon's amazingly catchy song slash "ode to black penis" from Kimmy Schmidt's first season:
Yeah, the song's entirely made up of words that have nothing to do with each other ("Peeno noir / smoke a cigar / revenge can be spectacu-lar!"), but if it's not stuck in your head within seconds, you just may be a Cylon.
In the Orange Is the New Black version, "Peeno Noir" becomes "Honey Jar." The cast lovingly pays tribute to contraband liquor, with plenty of winks to the camera. ("Honey jar / seduce a guard / that guy Bennett's muscu-lar!")
Sure, it's silly, but it's hard to be cynical about this when the cast is clearly having so much fun. And hey, if Netflix's animated comedy BoJack Horseman could do a brief Orange Is the New Black crossover, maybe Kimmy Schmidt could be next.
