At the Democratic debate on Thursday, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton were in the middle of a substantive debate about the cost of their health care plans.
Then Sanders tried to land a zinger: "Secretary Clinton, you're not in the White House yet."
The charitable view here is that he's trying to take a dig at Clinton's supposedly "inevitable" status as the Democratic nominee — something that seems less true today after Sanders virtually tied her in the Iowa caucuses and handily beat her in the New Hampshire primary election.
But it was a weird, out-of-place zinger. And the audience didn't applaud.
