Twitter’s Jack Dorsey will interview Edward Snowden Tuesday morning on Periscope

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey will interview famed CIA whistleblower Edward Snowden via video conference on Tuesday morning, according to a Twitter spokesperson.

Dorsey and Twitter will broadcast the interview live via the company’s livestreaming service, Periscope, and Dorsey will ask Snowden questions submitted to him over Twitter.

It should be an interesting chat. Twitter has long been a platform claiming to uphold free speech, which at times comes at the detriment of its users who have been bullied or harassed. Snowden, who leaked documents unearthing mass surveillance efforts by the U.S. government, certainly has some experience exercising free speech rights.

It’s not entirely clear why Dorsey is conducting the interview, though Dorsey has offered his public support to have Snowden pardoned. That petition effort is in partnership with the ACLU, which is also facilitating this conversation.

The event is set to take place at 9:05 am PT Tuesday and can be watched on the @PardonSnowden Twitter handle. Users can submit questions to Dorsey via the hashtag #AskSnowden.
