Yesterday, the very funny Kumail Nanjiani and Thomas Middleditch, stars of “Silicon Valley,” had their own real-life moment that could have easily been one of the more outlandish plots from the hit HBO show.
Except not.
Here’s the account, better told by them:
Was at a bar last night with @Middleditch. At the end of the night, 2 white dudes, 20's, who'd been there for hours came up to us.

"We're big fans of you guys. (To Thomas) I trolled you on twitter yesterday." He goes on to say how we're wrong about Trump.

I go "Hey we don't wanna discuss politics right now." His friends goes "oh they're cucks." Then starts yelling at us. "CUCKS CUCKS CUCKS!"

He starts getting in my face. Thomas puts his hand on the dude's chest to stop him. "Don't touch me you cuck. Wanna go outside?"

At this point, the bouncer runs over, grabs them, kicks them out. The bartender is awesome & apologetic. Thomas & I are stunned.

This happened at a bar in LA surrounded by ppl. I can't imagine what it must be like to be someone who looks like me in other parts.

We can't let hate/racism/bigotry/sexism be normalized. If something happens, be safe, but let it be known we won't stand for this.

For those who don’t know, “cuck” is an insulting term used by the alt-right, derived from “cuckold,” which is basically a word to describe a man whose wife cheats on him. Cuck means a sell-out or a man who alters his manly views for a woman’s approval. It’s incomprehensibly stupid, but that has not stopped people from using it and thinking it’s super clever. It’s not.
Or as Middleditch put it:
Know what? Now that I think about it, I'm totally cuck. Proud of it. Cuck as fuck -- wouldn't want it any other way.
— Thomas Middleditch (@Middleditch) November 13, 2016
And, no surprise, Nanjiani got blowback from the trolls of Twitter, who really seem to relish their cruel stupidity, and he handled it with humor.
I like the ppl that don't believe me, as if I'm like "it's great that I'm on an HBO show but my true passion is to be yelled at in a bar."

Long, prolonged sigh.
