Code Enterprise Series returns to San Francisco November 14-15, 2016

All about work, work, work and also work.

Now that Donald Trump has been elected the next U.S. president, the big question on my mind is what — if anything — our speakers are bracing for. What the #&$% happens next? How does this affect their business and work? How should we run our companies differently? How will they?

These speakers, by the way, run some of the biggest, most innovative and most important global companies. They include Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff; Google’s cloud boss Diane Greene; two rising-star executives at Slack, April Underwood and Noah Weiss; LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner; and Stacy Brown-Philpot, the CEO of TaskRabbit.

Other questions we’ll try to answer:

  • Why the heck did Benioff want to buy Twitter? Did he really? Does he still? Ego or strategy?
  • How is Slack going to use AI and bots to change the way we work? And how will it fend off competition from Facebook and Microsoft?
  • What needs to happen for Silicon Valley and corporate America to get real about diversity? So far, its efforts seem more lip service than anything else.
  • How do you build and scale a cult consumer brand in 2017? The CEO of San Francisco’s Philz Coffee will explain.
  • What’s the plan for Microsoft’s $26 billion LinkedIn deal? Is this the Outlook directory for the world? Or something else?
  • How important is workplace design to productivity and culture? We’ll get a visual sense from Ryan Mullenix, an accomplished architect.
  • How will Google win in the cloud? What is the actual goal? Why should we care? Why should we take it seriously?
  • Why is Facebook cloning Slack? Can it possibly succeed as a business tool? Is Facebook’s interest in the workday brilliant or desperate?
  • How do these successful executives stay productive? What can we learn from them about how to work efficiently — with empathy — in 2017?
