Apple has scrapped today’s planned release of the watchOS 2 software update after discovering a bug.
A company spokesperson did not offer details of the software glitch and could not say when the new version of the Apple Watch’s operating system would be available.
“We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected,” Apple said in a statement. “We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.”
The update promises new watch faces, different ways to customize the information displayed on the device and the opportunity for third-party developers to write software natively for the device, which should allow these apps to run more seamlessly.
