While Apple introduced a bunch of shiny new hardware on Wednesday, arguably one of its biggest moves in the past year has been to enter the payments space.

Given the growing role of Apple Pay, we’re thrilled that the head of that effort, Jennifer Bailey, is joining the lineup for Code/Mobile, which takes place Oct. 7-8 in Half Moon Bay, Calif.

Payments will be one of three main topics at the event, which will also look at how the technology that debuted in the smartphone is moving into other areas, including the car and wearables.

Bailey announced a key expansion of Apple Pay in June, adding that the company would add support for store-brand credit cards and loyalty cards.

She also became one of only a handful of female Apple executives to present at one of the company’s product launches. Bailey is one of several top female executives that have gained prominence at Apple under Tim Cook. Others include Angela Ahrendts, who heads Apple’s retail stores, and former Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa Jackson, who heads up environmental efforts.

Unlike those relatively new hires, though, Bailey has been at Apple since 2003, having worked on Apple’s online store, among other projects.

Bailey joins a star-studded lineup that also includes Android founder Andy Rubin, AT&T mobile chief Glenn Lurie, Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg, BlackBerry CEO John Chen, Federal Communications Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel and many others.

There’s still some time — but not much — to get your ticket and join us in October.
