Facebook's Oculus Buys Gesture Recognition Startup Pebbles Interfaces

Facebook-owned Oculus has acquired Pebbles Interfaces, an Israeli virtual reality startup, according to a company blog post. The Pebbles team will work with Oculus to build systems that can better detect hand movements in virtual reality so that users can better interact with virtual environments. (Facebook just announced in June that it will also sell handheld motion controllers to incorporate hand movements with its Oculus Rift headset.) The Wall Street Journal reports that the acquisition price is “about $60 million.”
