A delightful, collaborative Vine experiment has reimagined the Killers' "Mr. Brightside," in what might be a new milestone in tiny music video history.
The Brightside Project divided the hit 2004 song into 36 expressive Vines, enacted by 33 different artist participants. The most popular Vine (the second) has more than 1 million loops:
Below are the segments composing the first stanza and part of the pre-chorus (depending on your perspective of the key change). The series was combined (the full video is at the end of this post), but the best experience is in the looping segments, as they can be enjoyed individually or as part of the series.
"Coming out my cage, and I've been doin' just fine / Gotta, gotta be down because I want it all..."
"It started out with a kiss / How did it end up like this / It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss..."
"Now I'm falling asleep / And she's calling a cab / While he's having a smoke / And she's taking a drag..."
"Now they're going to bed / and my stomach is sick / and it's all in my head / but she's touching his [chest]..."
"[Touching] his chest, now / He takes off her dress / Now, letting me..."
"...go..."
"And I just can't look, it's killing me..."
"...and taking control..."
Here are the Vines, combined into one video:
