Don’t look for a new Apple TV box at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference next week. The company has been planning for months to use the high-profile event to showcase a revamped version of its Apple TV box. But it has changed its mind, people familiar with the company confirm. The New York Times first reported the change in plans.
This means WWDC should be almost entirely free of TV, as Apple also isn’t ready to talk about a planned Web TV service. On Monday, Re/code reported that Apple wasn’t ready to discuss that service, as it works through financial and technical details.
Some industry executives believe Apple may not be ready to launch a pay TV service until 2016.
