Deborah Sharkey, an eBay veteran who spent more than 11 years at the e-commerce marketplace, has joined pet-sitting marketplace DogVacay as its first chief operating officer. She left eBay in February where she was most recently vice president of local marketplaces and launched the company’s “buy online, pick up in store” initiative, which executives have referenced as an innovative bright spot in the company’s core shopping business. She previously spent most of her career in various management roles for eBay’s Australia business. She’ll be joining a startup in DogVacay; the company has raised $47 million in venture capital and has created a completely new type of online marketplace.
