Facebook Poaches Google Compliance Executive With Payments Expertise

Facebook has hired Frank Lawrence, a Google compliance executive with years of experience in the payments and money-transfer business — a noteworthy move in the wake of Facebook’s recent unveiling of a money-transfer feature for its Messenger app. Lawrence was most recently chief compliance officer for Google Payments, where his responsibilities included “compliance program design and implementations for all new products using Google Payments and features to optimize the user experience and mitigate fraud and compliance risks,” according to his LinkedIn profile. Facebook confirmed the hire but would not provide any details on his role or title at the social network.
