Tech has come for the cars. Platform companies are racing to stamp their software imprints on the car dashboard. Google, Tesla, Uber and a host of others are racing to build vehicles that run on their electric power, and run themselves. And the big automakers are racing to prove they are ahead of the curve.

Mary Barra, the CEO of General Motors, touched on this fast-changing industry landscape in a wide-ranging interview with Walt Mossberg at Code Conference 2015. Onstage, Barra announced the automaker was bringing the connected dashboards from Apple and Google to its Chevrolet line. She discussed these budding partnerships, the state of self-driving cars and the tech-enabled safety features GM includes in its cars — as well as those it doesn’t.

Here’s the full video from the interview.
