The popular podcast Serial is coming back this fall. When it does, it won't be telling Adnan Syed's story, but a new one. And the show's staff is already working on a third season, which will premiere about a year from now, executive producer Sarah Koenig wrote in an email newsletter.

"We can’t tell you details about the new stories yet," Koenig wrote. "What we can say is that they’re very different from Season One, but no less interesting to us."

Meanwhile, Syed is being allowed to request to reopen his case so that alibi witness Asia McClain, featured on an early episode of Serial's first season, can give testimony.
