The NFL Is Already Selling Jameis Winston's Jersey -- But Only on Twitter

Twitter continues to test its new "Buy" button.

NBC Sports

Less than an hour after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made Jameis Winston the first pick in Thursday’s 2015 NFL Draft, his jersey was already on sale. The only catch: You could only buy it on Twitter.

The social network is continuing to test its new “Buy” button with major sporting events — last week the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks used Twitter to sell NBA playoff tickets. Partnering with the Bucs for the NFL Draft should provide an interesting test. Twitter often thrives around highly anticipated live TV events, and this is a chance to see if that activity can translate into sales.

Here’s a look at the tweet:

And here’s what the tweet looks like on the Web, including the “Buy” button.

Twitter

The NFL is now selling jerseys on other commerce sites, including NFLShop. The exclusive partnership with Twitter lasted for just one two hours before the NFL opened sales elsewhere.
