The CEO of MCX, the Retail Group Behind an Apple Pay Competitor, Is Out

MCX has a new CEO and the mobile payment app it is developing hasn’t launched publicly yet. The consortium of retailers, whose members include Walmart, Target and Kohl’s, announced on Tuesday that CEO Dekkers Davidson is being replaced by banking veteran Brian Mooney. Mooney will take the title of interim CEO; it’s not clear if MCX is still searching for a different, permanent CEO. The announcement comes a day after MCX member Best Buy became the first national chain in the group to say it would accept Apple Pay in its stores. Best Buy would not commit to accepting CurrentC, MCX’s mobile wallet app that is still in a private beta test.
