Twitter Update Lets You Receive Private Messages From Anyone

Twitter updated its direct-messaging feature Monday with an option in settings that allows you to receive messages from any other user. Previously, you could only receive messages from people you followed, which meant the feature wasn’t always that useful. Over the past six months, Twitter has added features like group messaging and the ability to privately send someone a tweet in the hope of making Direct Messages more competitive with other messaging services.
