Twitter is testing a new ad unit that lets users swipe left and right to see a number of different promoted tweets in their Timeline instead of just one.
The ad unit, which a company spokesperson confirmed is just a test, has been in use for a couple weeks, but it’s clearly expanding (including to Re/code’s staff).
Essentially, it’s a way to get more app install ads in front of more users.
Instagram launched a similar ad unit earlier this month, which it calls a “carousel,” that includes multiple sponsored posts instead of app install ads.
It’s not the only ad test Twitter is experimenting with. It’s also testing promoted tweets on user profile pages.
