People Are Buying Fitbits for Their Fat Pets (Video)

Fitbit’s smallest customers aren’t short people or kids. They’re pets.

So said Fitbit CEO James Park at the Code/Mobile conference at The Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, Calif., on Thursday.

Park said the company noticed that there was a lot of data from people that were like two feet tall and 20 pounds. In fact, thousands of them. Photos on their profiles solved the mystery: They were pets (with crazy pet parents).

“Petbits,” Lauren Goode, a Verge editor and one of the interviewers, said.
