Don't Have Cable or Care About Football? Here's the Trailer for the Next 'Star Wars' Movie. (Video)

Surprise! It looks good.

Disney/YouTube screen grab

About a year ago, the first teaser trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" dropped, and the Internet just about crapped its pants.

The latest trailer aired this evening during halftime on "Monday Night Football," in what was both an affront to hardcore geeks and a testament to the legacy of George Lucas’s epic space opera. Disney has staggered out shorter trailers for tonight’s trailer, and in an impressive display of brand synergy, it made sure that everyone knew where they could look to find the new trailer.

And it worked! People are so hyped about this trailer and this movie that folks reported that several movie ticketing websites crashed or were very slow to load, including Fandango, MovieTickets.com, AMC Theatres and others. The movie hits theaters on Dec. 18.
