The battle for LGBT rights has moved so quickly during the past few years that it's sometimes easy to take the historical change — and rapid expansion of same-sex marriage rights — for granted.

The front-page article on the left is about the defeat of a local gay rights law during the 1970s. The article on the right deals with the beginning of same-sex marriages in Florida, which began in Miami-Dade County on Monday and across the state on Tuesday.
