Jeremy Gordon, a former engineering VP with Twitter, has joined Redpoint Ventures as the firm’s newest entrepreneur-in-residence, Gordon tells Re/code.
Prior to leaving Twitter in October, Gordon led engineering for all of Twitter’s consumer products — essentially everything that wasn’t ad-related. Before that, he worked with Twitter’s mobile engineering team after joining the company through the acquisition of his startup, Cabana.
Gordon will spend his time at Redpoint learning the VC side of the business. He’ll also assist the firm’s investment companies as they scale, something he learned a lot about while working at Twitter. Gordon selected Redpoint over a number of other firms; he knew general partner Ryan Sarver (also former Twitter) from his days at Cabana and said he felt a strong connection with the firm’s other partners as well.
Ultimately, he plans to launch another startup of his own, although he’s still waiting for the right idea to come along.
“I’ve been obsessed with hardware for the past year,” says Gordon, who’s been tinkering with projects in his garage. “I’m trying to figure out if that’s a hobby, or the seed of a business.”
Gordon started at Redpoint in early January.
