Mark Carges, the chief technical officer at eBay for the past five years, has stepped down to “focus on a family matter,” eBay announced today. Carges had been on leave from the San Jose, Calif.-based company to attend to the matter and decided not to return to eBay. Separately, eBay has hired Salesforce exec Steve Fisher as its new CTO for its marketplace business. It’s not yet clear if eBay will hire a replacement for Carges as CTO of the entire company.
