Google’s research division has unveiled “Project Wing,” an effort to develop drones that can deliver goods quickly, cheaply and efficiently. Google X has been working on the project for the last two years. In recent tests in Queensland, Australia, researchers used prototypes of the automated vehicles to deliver “candy bars, dog treats, cattle vaccines, water, radios, and more” to two farmers. Google emphasizes that it is early in the development process and it will be several years before we’re likely to see a commercial product.
