One of the healthcare sectors is not like the others

While just about every health care segment has had pretty monster job growth, Dan Diamond notices that hospitals' employment levels have remained pretty steady for the past two years. Matt Yglesias adds that, this month, the sector actually lost 7,000 jobs.

This lines up pretty nicely with recent Medicare data showing that the government-run insurer's hospital plan is spent less per-person in 2012 than it did in 2013. When there are fewer seniors making trips to the hospital, there might be less of a need for hospital jobs to grow.
