Bose Seeks Sales Ban on Some Beats Headphones, Claiming Patent Infringement

Bose filed an International Trade Commission complaint and a federal patent infringement lawsuit.

Headset maker Bose Corporation is asking for a ban on sales of certain Beats headphones, saying they infringe on four of its patents related to noise cancellation and other technologies.

Bose filed an International Trade Commission complaint on Friday, seeking to halt the sale and import of some Beats products, including the Beats Studio and Beats Studio Wireless, both of which use active noise reduction methods that Bose said infringe on its patents. It also filed a federal patent infringement lawsuit in Delaware.

In that suit, Bose seeks financial damages and an injunction against Beats.

A Beats Electronics representative was not immediately available for comment. Apple is in the process of acquiring Beats, a deal Apple said it expected to close this quarter.
