Former Venrock exec Marissa Campise has joined SoftBank Capital, the venture group affiliated with Japan’s giant SoftBank Corp., as a partner.
The New York-based SoftBank’s often high-profile investments have included Gilt Groupe, Huffington Post, Buddy Media, OMGPOP, Criteo, Buzzfeed and Fitbit.
Campise, who will be located in New York, will be focused consumer and enterprise mobile, as well as connected devices. Some of her past investments have included Klout, Livefyre, Burner, Trumaker and Netsertive and she has served on the board of SlideShare. Before Venrock, where she has been for three years, she was a principal at Greycroft Partners and, prior to that, was at Lindzon Capital Partners.
“SoftBank Capital has an excellent reputation and is known to be great at opening doors for the management teams of its companies,” said Campise in a statement. “The unique relationship with Softbank Corp. provides the right companies access to strong distribution. This is a huge advantage in high-growth markets like Asia and is precisely what attracted me here.”
“I think she is one of the most talented investors in the New York market,” said SoftBank Capital partner Jordan Levy. “This is not a team sport and Marissa is one of the best.”
