New York Times Replaces Jill Abramson With Dean Baquet as Top Editor

Jason Del Rey has been a business journalist for 15 years and has covered Amazon, Walmart, and the e-commerce industry for the last decade. He is a senior correspondent at Vox.

The New York Times announced on Wednesday that Executive Editor Jill Abramson was leaving and being replaced by Managing Editor Dean Baquet. Abramson had been the paper’s top editor since 2011, when she became the first woman to lead the Times’ newsroom. Baquet, who has held the top position at the Los Angeles Times, becomes the first African-American to be named to the role at the Times.
