Anki Adds New Robot Cars to Lineup, With New Tracks on Roadmap

Robot toy maker Anki is getting some new hardware. Starting today, fans of the mobile device-controlled robot cars Anki Drive will be able to go online and buy two new racing cars with different “personalities” for $70 each. On May 6, the cars are scheduled to be available in Apple and Best Buy stores, alongside new racetracks, for $100 each. Chief Product Officer Mark Palatucci said the company wants Anki Drive, which debuted at WWDC 2013 and launched last October, to continue to evolve, as users can download updates to the Anki app that also invisibly update the software onboard connected cars. The update also adds a new mode that lets players race without the cars’ offensive weapons.
