Newsweek's Satoshi Hires Lawyer, Maintains He Did Not Create Bitcoin

Jason Del Rey has been a business journalist for 15 years and has covered Amazon, Walmart, and the e-commerce industry for the last decade. He was a senior correspondent at Vox.

A lawyer who claims to represent Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto, the man Newsweek alleged is the creator of bitcoin, issued a statement on Nakamoto’s behalf on Monday: “I did not create, invent or otherwise work on Bitcoin,” it reads, in part. “I unconditionally deny the Newsweek report.” The attorney, Ethan D. Kirschner, declined further comment. The statement was first tweeted by Reuters blogger Felix Salmon.
